Customer Data Platform
It's much simpler and easier than you imagine it to be.
Your customers perform a series of actions when they are browsing through your website or mobile app; like logging in, adding an item to cart, sharing a link, leaving a review, logging out, etc. All of this is 'customer data'. You can attach this data in real time to individual customers using the 'Send With SES Contacts API'.
The 'Send With SES Contacts API' works around two simple concepts.
CONTACTS: As the name indicates, these are your users. They are uniquely identified by their email or mobile number.
TAGS: These are the small bits of information you attach to your contacts. For example, if a customer adds 'red shirt' to their wish-list, you attach the tag 'red shirt' to that particular customer. You can attach/detach as many tags as you want to each customer in real time.
You can then filter your contacts using a combination of tags and send targeted messages manually or via the API or through set rules (automations/workflows).
PRO TIP: Get creative with tags. While you can attach any random information to a contact, all that data quickly becomes unmanageable to generate any kind of intelligence. The only people who truly understand your business are you and your team. Decide on a 'tag strategy' beforehand. Some popular tags are, 'free', 'paying', 'wishlist', 'added to cart', 'VIP', etc.
